The Basics:
I am majoring in chemistry with the future hope of becoming a medical examiner.  I am currently a junior at the UW, and am very excited to be almost done.  I grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, where I lived for about fifteen years.  I have lived in Renton, Washington for about eight years now, and consider that to be my hometown.

See, the thing with me and writing is … :
Honestly, if I had my way, my relationship with writing would be close to non-existent.  I have never enjoyed writing papers, even though I can when it is necessary.  I am perfectly happy going about life and not writing anything except for maybe the occasional letter or email.

My writing h
abits:

When writing a paper, I tend to procrastinate only because it takes me an unusually long time to start the paper.  For some reason, I can’t write part of the paper and then come back later to finish the rest.  I have to sit down and write out the whole thing from beginning to end, first on notebook paper and then typed.  I realize that this method takes forever and that there is a more efficient way of writing, but that is what works.

The best writing playlist ever:
When I am writing I usually listen to music that is pretty chill, such as The American Analog Set Snow Patrol, Carolina Liar, Tegan and Sara, etc.  In general, it doesn’t really matter what is on, as long as there is some background noise.  Sometimes I just put some crap TV show on in the background, but I find music much easier to block out than a conversation on TV.

For my “day job” as a student in chemistry, most of the writing I do is …
As a chemistry major, I am generally not required to do any writing, except for the occasional lab report, depending on what classes I am taking.  This is actually one of the things I like most about being a chemistry major, because as much as I try, I will never be a fan of writing.
